Qalhat LNG considered as an effective member of Omani
society, and a major participators in the sultanate economy, since
the inception, Qalhat LNG played a major roles in supporting and
funding Social Investment Programs. A wide range of the Omani
society is, consequently and directly benefiting from Qalhat LNG and
its business thru recruitments, training, procurements, supply &
service contracts … etc.
To formalize and set boundaries around the size of the local
community contribution , H.E. Shk, Alfadhl Al Harthy the Chairman of
Board of Directors announced, during the Qalhat LNG plant
inauguration ceremony in March 2006, that Qalhat LNG has
allocated 1% of its annual net profit
after tax for the benefit to the local community development in
Oman.
An annual Social Investment Plan (SIP) is being immediately
designed to identify the main local community business and plan
intended to insure Qalhat LNG:

board its responsibilities with regard to social
issues resulting from its operations and endorse it
as part of its business plan |

Takes the
initiatives and proactive actions toward the issues
may rise from operations and in areas of the company
business activities. |

immediate actions toward any issues raised by and/or
recommended by the local community to ensure
satisfaction of all stakeholders. |
During the last year 2006, many areas
and activities are covered either thru direct donations or events
sponsorship working thru two main sectors of the Omani society and
the Local Community.
Events and Activities funded by Qalhat LNG last year been mainly of
social types, that raised from the actual social needs and aimed
directly for the benefit of society as a whole or as identified
groups.
These event and activities were included, higher education &
training, HSE enhancement campaigns, welfare activities, local
religious & cultural programs, local youth events, child care
and environment. |
